Illustrative Example: Assessments
- Conducting assessments for a Private Equity firm on the management team of a portfolio company. Assessments were geared towards answering whether members of the current team could adequately lead the company through desired changes.
- Selection assessment for Head of Market Risk at a large public investment fund. Many candidates had interviewed but the hiring process was stalled due to friction among the three primary stakeholders who could not agree on any candidates (Chief Risk Officer, Chief Investment Officer, and COO). The project began with an initial job analysis which revealed real differences in how the stakeholders viewed the primary responsibilities of the role. We worked to negotiate a consensus view of the positions’ responsibilities which involved the creation of a second deputy head of risk position to oversee certain critical projects. We then assessed candidates against the consensus job profile and were able to identify a clear fit for the role.
- Development assessments for emerging leaders. The project involved conducting assessments of newly-promoted senior leaders. Assessments were followed by individual coaching.
- Design of assessment process for quantitative strategists at a hedge fund. The project involved an initial job analysis, development of competencies, development of interview questions and behaviorally-anchored rating scales, and design and delivery of an interviewer training program.
